By accessing or using Chess Explain ("Service", "we", "us") you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a binding agreement between you and the operator of Chess Explain.
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Chess Explain is an AI-powered chess analysis tool that provides:
The AI analysis is provided for informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute professional chess coaching advice.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately via the contact form on this website if you suspect unauthorised access.
You may only register one account per person. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Free plan: Registered users with a verified email address receive a monthly AI usage allowance equivalent to approximately 10 AI analyses, at no cost. To prevent abuse, the free allowance is shared across all free accounts registered from the same network (IP address). Anonymous visitors receive a small trial allowance per month.
Premium plan: Approximately 200 AI analyses per calendar month, puzzle hints, persona commentary, and unlimited saved games. Pricing: $7.99 USD/month (billed monthly) or $76.99 USD/year (billed annually).
Pro plan: Approximately 1,000 AI analyses per calendar month plus all Premium features. Pricing: $19.99 USD/month (billed monthly) or $191.99 USD/year (billed annually).
Allowances are measured by the underlying AI processing cost of your requests, so the exact number of analyses may vary slightly with the depth and length of each analysis. Unused allowance does not roll over; allowances reset at the start of each calendar month.
We reserve the right to change plan limits and pricing with reasonable notice. Existing subscribers will be notified of price changes at least 30 days in advance.
All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Payment data is handled by Stripe under their Privacy Policy.
Recurring billing: Your Premium subscription renews automatically (monthly or annually, depending on the plan you selected) unless cancelled before the renewal date.
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time via the Billing Portal in Settings → Profile & Plan. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain Premium access until that date.
Refunds: We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel mid-cycle, your paid access continues until the period ends and no further charges are made. If you experience a technical billing error, contact us within 14 days for a resolution.
EU/EEA right of withdrawal: If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a contract for digital services within 14 days without giving a reason. By starting your subscription you expressly request immediate performance of the service and acknowledge that, once your AI usage allowance has been fully consumed within the withdrawal period, you lose the right of withdrawal. If you withdraw within 14 days before fully using the service, we will refund the amount paid minus a proportionate charge for the usage already provided. To exercise this right, contact us via the contact form or by email.
Prices are shown in USD. Your bank or card issuer may apply currency conversion fees; we are not responsible for these.
